How to Create Progress Bars in Google Sheets(Step by Step Guide )

Enlcosed are the steps to create Progress bars in Google Sheets :

Step 1: Open Google Sheet and specify your data

As a first step you need to prepare your data in Google Sheets.

In the below example we have created a list 10 Project along with the current progress percentage.

Step 2: Create the Progress Bars

Now Click on cell C2 and start typing the following formula in the function area fx

=SPARKLINE(B2,{"charttype","bar";"max",1;"min",0;"color1","green"})

Now Press enter and the formula will be applied in the cell C2 and you will have a progress bar as shown below.

Step 3: Copy the formula across the Column

Now to get the similar progress for all other projects simply Select the cell C2 .Move you mouse to the right corner of the cell until it turns blue as shown below (Pointed with arrow)

How to Create Progress Bars in Google Sheets

Start dragging it downwards in the Column and the formula will be applied on all the remaining cells .

The required progress bar has been created .The length of the progress bar indicates the percentage of progress for the project.

Step 4 : If required Customize the Progres bar

In case you need to customize the progress bar in different colors based on their progress percenatage you can do it using the below formula

=SPARKLINE(B2,{"charttype","bar";"max",1;"min",0;"color1",IF(B2>0.7,"green",IF(B2>0.5,"orange","yellow"))})

Using the above formula you can show the progress bar in green once the percentage is greater than 70% or a orange progress bar if the percentage is beyond 50% else a yellow progress bar .
