  • Select “Insert 1 Row above” from the available drop-down options.
  • One new Blank row will be inserted above the selected row
  • Enter the heading title in the new columns of the newly inserted Row

Step 1 : Open Google Sheets

Step 2 : Select the Row above which you want to insert a Header and Right Click on it.

Normally it is the first Row in your worksheet.

How to freeze headers in a Google Spreadsheet

In the above steps we have created the heading / header.However when you will try to scroll down the spreadsheet the heading/header will not be visible.In order to make the heading /header visible even when we scroll down the Sheet .We need to freeze the header

Step 1 : Choose any of the cell on your Header row by just clicking on it

Step 2 :Now Click on the Insert menu and Select “Freeze” from the drop-down and Choose Up to 1 row

Step 3 : Now even if you scroll down the header row will always be visible .

Once you select “Freeze” Upto 1 row the ,the header row will freeze and you will notice a light grey line below the first row.
