How to Sort a List Alphabetically in Google Docs: Step by Step Guide
- Open google docs document with a list that needs to be sorted.
- Go to the Main menu-> Add-ons.
- Under the Add-ons menu go to “Get add-ons“.
- Install Doc Tools add-on from Google Workspace Marketplace.
- Select the list of items.
- Go to Main menu>Add-ons->Power Tools->Sort the list in ascending order
Step 1: Find the sorting add-on
Go to google docs and open the document with a list that needs to be sorted.
- Go to the Main menu-> Add-ons.
- Under the Add-ons menu go to “Get add-ons” as shown below.
- Once you click on the Get add-ons option.
You will be taken to the “Google workspace Marketplace ” screen.
Search for the add-on “Doc Tools” in the search area.
Step 2 : Install the Doc tools add-on
Click on the add-on which we found in the previous step.
You will be taken to the below screen where you get the option to install the addon.
Click on Install
Click on continue and log on to your Google account to provide the necessary permissions.
Click on Allow
Once you click on allow, the addon “Doc Tool” will be installed and you will get a message “Doc Tools has been installed” as shown below. Click on done to close the window.
Step 3: Using the Doc tool add-on for sorting the list alphabetically.
- Select the list and Go to the Main menu->Addon menu.
- Under the Add-on menu select “Doc Tools“
- Under Doc Tools select “Sort the selection ascending“
Now you will have an alphabetically sorted list of items.
