- Google Compute Engine (GCE) is a Google Cloud Platform Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) component that is based on the worldwide infrastructure that powers Google’s search engine, Gmail, YouTube, and other services.
- Users can utilize Google Compute Engine to launch virtual machines (VMs) on demand.
- Users can utilize the standard images or generate their own custom pictures to launch virtual machines.
- Before running the VMs, GCE users must authenticate using OAuth 2.0. The Developer Console, RESTful API, and command-line interface are all ways to access Google Compute Engine (CLI).

Administrators can choose the area and zone in which particular data resources will be stored and used in GCE. GCE has three regions at the moment:
the United States, Europe, and Asia. Each area has two availability zones, with Ivy Bridge, Sandy Bridge, Haswell, Broadwell, Skylake, or Cascade Lake platforms, as well as the AMD EPYC Rome platform, are supported in each zone.
When you create an instance in a zone, the default processor available in that zone is used. If you start an instance in the us-central1-a zone, for example, your instance will utilize a Haswell CPU by default unless you indicate otherwise.
