Following are the steps to freeze rows in google sheets.

Simply using mouse click

Step 1: Open Google sheets

Open google sheets where you want to freeze the rows

Step 2: Move your mouse cursor to the upper left corner of the sheet until it changes into a hand icon as shown below

Step 3: Now press and hold the right mouse click and move the line down

If you want to freeze only the first row drag the line below the first row and release the right click.

If you want to freeze all the rows drag the line below the last row and release the right click.

Using Freeze Option in the Menu ->View

  • Go to View menu in the Main menubar
  • Under View -> go to Freeze->Up to row 1

This will freeze the first row of the worksheet.

Following the same method, you can freeze more than 1 row.

However, if you want to freeze more than 6 rows, follow the below steps.

  • Select a cell on the sixth row as we want to freeze until 6th row
  • Navigate to the Main menu and go to click on View.
  • Under View menu drop down ,Select Freeze
  • Under Freeze click on “Up to row 6”

This will immediately lock the first 6 rows of the google sheet which will be always visible when you scroll.

Follow the below steps to unfreeze rows and columns in google sheets

To Unfreeze row :

  • Navigate to the Main menu and go to click on View.
  • Under View menu drop down ,Select Freeze
  • Under Freeze click on “No rows “

To Unfreeze columns :

  • Navigate to the Main menu and go to click on View.
  • Under View menu drop down ,Select Freeze
  • Under Freeze click on “No Columns “
