Google docs don’t come with a default feature to embed a video. However, there is a workaround using which you can embed a video into a google docs doc.
Here are the steps to embed a video in Google Docs
- First, insert the video in Google Slides
- Once the video is inserted in Google Slides, simply copy it using CTRL+C
- Now go to Google docs where you want to embed the video
- Click on the Insert menu->Drawing->New
- Now paste the copied video on the Drawing window using CTRL+V and click on save & close
- Your video will be Embedded in Google docs.

Step 1: First, insert the video into Google Slides
Open Google Slides with a blank presentation.
Step 2: Click on the Insert menu and select Video from the drop-down
Step 3: Insert the Video
- Now you can insert a Youtube video via the search feature or by directly pasting a URL.
- You can also insert a video that might be saved on your Google drive
Step 4: Copy the Video
- Once the video is inserted in Google Slide, Select the video and then Click on Edit -> Copy
- You can also use the keyboard Shortcut CTRL+C
Step 5: Now open Google docs where you want to embed the video
Step 6: Click on the Insert menu->Drawing->New
Step 7: Now paste the copied video on the Drawing window using CTRL+V and click on save & close
Step 8: Your video will be Embedded in Google docs.
In order to play the video, you need to double click on the Video which will open the video on the Drawing screen, and then you will get the play option.
