- If your writing 1/4 or 1/3 or any other number followed by / in Google docs .You might have noticed that Google docs will automatically convert it to fraction.
- If you actually need it to be shown in fractions then its a useful feature .However if you don’t need it it can be time consuming to edit the document.

Overview of Steps :
- Open your Google docs document.
- Select Preferences under Tools Menu
- Click on Substitution under beside Preferences
- Scroll down to find the fractions.
- Scroll down using the scroll bar using your mouse scroll until you find your desired fraction.
- Uncheck the fraction and Click on OK.
How to turn off automatic fraction in Google docs : Step by Step Guide
Step 1 : Open your Google docs document.
Open your Google docs document where you need to turn off automtic fraction.
Step 2: Select Preferences under Tools Menu
Go to Tools->Preference as shown below .
Step 3 : Click on Substitution under beside Preferences
- Once you select Preferences .A new screen will pop-up as shown below.
- Click on Substitution.
Step 4 : Scroll down to find the fractions.
- Scroll down using the scroll bar using your mouse scroll until you find your desired fraction.
- Uncheck the fraction and Click on OK.
- Now simply uncheck the fraction which you don’t want it to be converted and Click on OK .For example 1/2
- You can also completely disable Automatic substitution if you don’t want anything to be converted automatically.
- Simply uncheck the “Automatic Subtitution ” box as shown below.
Now Google docs will stop automatically converting to fractions or completely stop automatic conversion if Automatic substitution is unchecked.
