Option 1 : Using Paragraph borders
To Change the thickness of a Horizontal line in Google docs using horizontal line using paragraph borders follow the below steps.
Once your document is ready, follow the remaining steps laid out below.
Step 1: Open your Google doc
Open the Google doc where you want to change the thickness of a Horizontal line.
Step 2: Select the ‘Format’ Menu.
- Click on the Format Menu on the Main menu bar .
Step 3: Click on ‘Paragraph styles.’
- Under Format menu drop-down Select ‘Paragraph styles‘.
Step 4: Select the ‘Borders and shading’ option.
- Under ‘Paragraph styles‘ select ‘Borders and shading‘ option
Step 5: Select the required border
Once you Select Border and shading from Format->Paragraph styles. Border and Shading screen will pop up.
Depending on your requirement select the horizontal paragraph border.

Step 1: Open your Google Doc.
Open the Google doc where you want to change the thickness of a Horizontal line using Shapes.
Step 2: Select the ‘Insert’ Menu.

Step 3: Select ‘Drawing’ option

There is no option to decrease the thickness as the default size is minimum.
