To revert google doc to previous version :
- Log in to your Google account
- Go to Google Drive.
- Open the Google docs document which you want to restore
- Open version History
- Select and Restore the Previous version
How to Revert Google Doc to previous version : Step by Step Guide
Step 1: Log in to your Google account
Step 2: Go to Google Drive.
- Click on the dotted Square Symbol as shown below.
- Under Drop-down Select Drive.
Step 3: Open the Google docs document which you want to restore
Step 4: Open version History
- Go to the File menu and then click on Version History.
- Under Version History Select “See Version History “
This will open the Version History where you will find all the previous versions of your document.
Step 5: Select and Restore the Previous version
To restore a previous version of the document, Simply Click on the three dots and select “Restore this version” as shown below.
Click on Restore. Your Google doc will be restored to the selected version. The older version will only have the changes which you made until that timestamp. In our example 1st Feb 20:03.
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H to open the version History.
#How to assign Version Names.
Google docs are saved in Date Month and Time format by default. Hence for each version, you will see a timestamp.
If you want to assign a version name to a specific version follow the below steps.
- Click on the three dots infront of the version timestamp .
- Click on Name this version
Now you will get the option to Name this version. Specify a name for this version.
For example Test document. Now a name has been assigned to this version.
When you want to see only the names version. Slide the toggle bar in front of the “Only Show name version” on the top right of your google docs document.
Now only the current and named versions will be visible.
